Glenorchy is a suburb of Tasmania, Tasmania and is about 7 kms northwest of TAS's capital city of Hobart. In the 2011 Australian census the population of Glenorchy was 10,534 when there were 5,555 Females and 4,979 Males living there. The median age for people living in Glenorchy was 40. Glenorchy is a business district and suburb in the northern part of greater Hobart, capital of the state of Tasmania, Australia. The land was originally used for agriculture (particularly orchards) but is now a largely suburban, working-class area. It is the seat of the local government area of the same name, the City of Glenorchy.
